In line with DDA regulations, alterations have been made within Chorley Town Hall to provide access opportunities for all users.

The existing central core within the Victorian York Stone Building was demolished and replaced with a glass atrium with circular sky-light that frames the 120ft clock tower above.

Within the new atrium are two multi flight staircases and two glass feature lifts.

 

Durranhill Police HQ

Barnes was appointed in 2007 on a D&B basis following a design competition with Taylor Young, DSSR and Giffords to create an exemplar building that addressed sustainability as its top priority.

The £7.1 million HQ represents the largest capital investment in the police authorities history and unites offices that have been spread across the district.

The new premises are now the base for senior management teams, C.I.D, Carlisle City Policing Unit and Civillian Support, along with various operational support unity for the road Policing Unit and Tactical Units.

 

Eccles Bus Station

The central bus station is clad with vertical aerofoil mullion glazing to the side panels with a curved aluminium , natural finish, composite panel system roof construction, all supported with a steel frame.

Since the succesful completion of the project, EGS Design has received an award for ‘Bus Station Interchange Project of the Year 2002’

 

Middleton Bus Station

The new ‘Grade One’ category bus station replaces the existing 30 year old facility, offering significantly improved facilities for both passengers and bus operation.

Designed on a curvilinear plan form, echoed in the undulating roofline, the building is modelled on airport concourse design principals.

 

Oldham Bus Station

Construction work is now complete on the new £2 million West Street bus station in Oldham, continuing our relationship with Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority and GMPTE.

The state-of-the-art concourse will offer a hospitable environment and will also be fitted with CCTV to provide greater security.

 

Penrith Police HQ, Cumbria

The contract comprised of 1100m² IT and Airwaves control room linked to the existing building. The project was delivered in 2 phases, the first being a 19 week programme to complete the ground floor with the remainder of our works to the first and second floor being completed in the 9 weeks that followed.
