Thomas Barnes were appointed, as a result of the successful completion of the project above, to extend the facilities by way of a 50,000 sq ft building.

Following demolition of the boiler house and utility stores, the extension consisted of a single storey triple span portal frame.

Part of an on-going phased programme, this 80,000 sq ft production and distribution depot was constructed on a contaminated site.

After stripping, a stone mat was laid in the floor slab and foundation areas and vibro-compacted. Traditional concrete bases and pre-cast ground beams were used.

The superstructure is a 4 bay steel portal frame, steel sheet clad with roller shutters.

Heywood Distribution Park, Unit B4

Areas of damaged vertical cladding were reinstated as well as repairs to internal and external brick & block walls with metal gutters being repainted and downspouts replaced. Roof sheets / lights have been replaced and the entire buildings exterior repainted.

Internally, offices have been reconfigured and toilet areas upgraded.

The design & build scheme comprises a 50,000 sq ft single span warehouse, with 16m to eaves high bay racking system, loading docks and canopies.

Internally, a 2-storey office area was constructed. The warehouse was protected with roof and in-rack sprinkler system.
