The club house, designed to look like a sail, is one of a select number of 'Zero Carbonated' buildings within the whole of the UK.

The 3-storey clubhouse and Wardens flat was constructed using a steel frame rendered block-work with a timber inner leaf, pre-cast concrete upper floors and a profiled metal roof.

No electrical or gas supply is connected to the premises as the building is completely self-sufficient with power being generated via exposure to natural elements such as the sun and wind.

Mr Elliot Morley, Minister for the Environment, took a keen interest in the project and visited site during construction.

Externally the building has block work up to 2.1m and then clad with an aluminium effect. Internally the hall has a block and beam flooring suspended pre-cast floor with a vinyl finish.
